Sophia
Tuesday night's session at The Sussex County Arts Club was pretty full as usual and our model was the excellent Sophia who could hold a pose like a statue. Other cartooning stalwarts in attendance were Geo Parkin and Phil Dobson. Here are my attempts at capturing the lean and lissom Sophia.

Kate times 2
Over the last couple of nights I've had two drawing sessions with Kate Shields at the SCAC.
The first was Bill Donahoe's regular Tuesday night class where he plays great music to accompany the scribbling and last night was a special event organised by Kate (who has more fabulous curves that the Amalfi coast road) and her fellow fab modelling pals Frankie and Emma. The theme was the three muses linked by red twine in a varied three hour session accompanied again by a great soundtrack. There was a fabulously tranquil and inspiring atmosphere and it was good to see my old studio mate Dan Lish there for his first life drawing session in yonks. Thanks Kate for a great event.

Rucsy
While I've been out here in Mallorca I've got to know 3 Rumanian girls who are all beautiful, interesting and intelligent as well as speaking near perfect English. Maybe I should move there.
Anyway, this is Rucsy who agreed to model for me yesterday. As I hope you can tell she is very striking with a mass of blonde curls and is a very spiritual girl who wanted to be drawn holding a fairy.
So who was I to refuse? Fairy 'nuff! (Sorry!) She didn't want paying for our session so I'm giving her all the drawings instead. Who knows, one day they might be worth not very much at all!

Alma
My friend Daniel out here in Palma met a beautiful girl called Alma who had seen some of my life drawings (thanks to Dan) and wanted me to draw her to boost her self confidence after a bad love affair had messed her up. So a few days ago she borrowed a beautiful Spanish apartment and after a couple of glasses of wine to clam our nerves (Hey! I get nervous too!) we had a lovely relaxed drawing session. As well as being stunningly beautiful Alma does a lot of yoga and took to modelling very easily. I'd be begging her to be my regular muse if she hadn't gone back to northern Spain for a month. The Gods always have the last laugh! Here are the results.

Independence Day 2
In my regular spot in SFX magazine I am called upon to visualise films that are in development or even just being planned. That means that sometimes I have very little to go on beyond the title. Sometimes we don't know who will be starring in it, directing it or what it will be about. In the current issue of SFX the film in question is a sequel to the wonderful big budget B movie Independence Day and the only info they had was that Will Smith isn't going to be in it. Here's how it turned out. I had fun drawing the alien and all it's tentacles. FZZZZZZAP!!!
Jasmine and Michaela
This week on two consecutive nights I was lucky enough to draw two models who were new to me and they were both fabulous. On the Monday night at Kate Shields' private session in her lovely flat overlooking Brighton sea front our model was the truly beautiful Jasmine whom Kate had met at Glastonbury. A small group of artists attempted to capture her loveliness on paper.
On the following night at the SCAC session we had another new model Michaela who was also
fantastic to draw as I hope you'll see from my scribblings. I'm off back to Palma next week where I have yet to find a drawing session so it was great to draw these two wonderful models before I go.
