Double Trouble!

I managed to fit in two drawing sessions this week in between packing to move house. The first was part of the Brighton festival and was a Drawing Circus hosted by Jake Spicer incorporating three hours of live music and a host of excellent models in a variety of circus themed costumes. Jack's event are always superbly organised and inspiring as was this one. It took place in the Bosco Theatre beside the Spiegeltent on the Old Stein and the steeply tiered seats gave an excellent view of the varying tableaus as they changed and evolved. I had to leave early, unfortunately, so I missed the fabulous Naomi gyrating on a hoop. Great fun!
The following evening I went to my usual life drawing class hosted by Bill Donohoe at the Sussex County Arts Club where our model was the beautiful and statuesque Kate. She liked my drawings so I gave her one! I'll rephrase that- I donated one to her! That's better!

Cleudo!

Last night at The Old Market there was another of Jake Spicer's Draw events. These are always fun, inventive and well organised. This time the theme was Cluedo with our four excellent models- Naomi, Frankie, Laura and Amy dressed as characters from the game. I went along with sisters Nadia and Rowena and we all enjoyed it immensely. Here are some of my efforts.

Naomi yet again!

I went along to Jeremy Radvan's very informative anatomy class at SCAC last night where Jezza told us all about the muscles from the pelvis to the knee. Now I know what the sartorial muscle is for! Our model to illustrate the relevant parts of the body was the exquisitely lovely Naomi. Here are my efforts.

The Drawing Circus

After spending Christmas and New Year in Palma I was looking forward to some life drawing back in Brighton and last night was another of Jake Spicer's monthly events called The Drawing Circus. We had three models dressed in harlequin and clown costumes and it was packed with enthusiastic scribblers including my good mates Mark Xavier Harrison and Geo Parkin. Also there was the extremely talented graphic novelist Hannah Berry and Jan Irvine among many others. Our superb models were Laura Kate O'Rourke, Michaela Meadows and Felix. It was a great session after which Geo, Mark and I decamped to the Conquerer to plan our conquest of the world.
Look out world! Here some some old gits!

Jake Spicer's Drawing Circus

The other night I went along to another of Jake Spicer's excellent drawing events.
This time it was in the main hall of The Old Market so there was plenty of room. The event started in the afternoon but I went along to the evening part which ran from 8 to 11. There were 6 model. 5 girls and one guy. They were painted white all over to give a kind of Pierrot effect and their poses were accompanied by an excellent group of musicians playing drifty, ambient music which leant to the relaxed vibe. very enjoyable. Here are my best ones.
